Our Mission

Bitterroot Heritage Academy exists to provide an educational experience that promotes excellence in and a passion for learning that extends into lifelong curiosity and diversity of thought through a Christ-centered, non-traditional approach designed for children from a variety of backgrounds and learning styles.

Making an Impact Across the Globe!

Bitterroot Heritage Academy (BHA) aims to provide a unique learning experience for K-8th Grade students. We understand that a traditional educational system is not the optimal learning environment for all children. BHA promotes learning through a hybrid of education models, using methods from a one-room schoolhouse, homeschooling, and experiential learning to create student focused instruction.

Experiential learning caters to multiple learnings styles through active, reflective, and conceptual exploration learning. This approach equips students to explore and interact with the world, using their knowledge to continually gather information and generate new ideas.

The one-room schoolhouse approach allows students from multiple grades to interact and learn from one another. Students can move through the majority of their lessons at their own pace within the curriculum and classroom structure, similarly to the method of a homeschool environment.

While not literally a one-room schoolhouse, BHA will utilize components from that approach. BHA classes will be divided into grade groupings of Kindergarten-2nd grade; 3rd – 5th grade; and 6th – 8th grade. Classes will consist of 12 students each. One of each of the grade grouping classes will compose a “Pod”. Within their pods, students will have the opportunity to interact with students and teachers in the grades above them facilitating a smoother transition between classes.

2023 School Year

The school year will run approximately 40 weeks per year, including a 5 week summer break, multiple week long breaks throughout the year, as well as one 3 day weekend each month. During the school year, classes will run 5 days a week and the school day will be 9 am -3 pm with an early out at 1:30 pm on Fridays.

Food service will not be available for the 2023-2024 school year. Students will be expected to provide their own lunch and snacks.

"Education can be more than just information passed on, memorized, and recalled, it could be a lifelong curiosity and passion for learning and exploring the world. We believe that the current state of the world provides an opportunity to raise a generation of leaders and thinkers."
